She was never supposed to be back!
After two years in Juvenile Detention, the most unhinged and intimidating kid in school, PRUDENCE “FREAKY” FARPELIA, has first period P.E. with geeky doormat BILLY CASPER. It’s Day One of the annual rainy season Ballroom Dance unit. And as everyone pairs up, Billy ends up the last man standing, partnered with this horrible girl and her decade long history of out-of-the-blue violent rage. Violence that Billy experienced six years ago! How can this get any worse?!
And then Billy’s long-time crush, ANGELICA AYERS, excitedly tells Billy that he’s the talk of the school. Everyone thinks he’s a dead man. It’s just a matter of when. As Billy delves deep into fear and dread, inspiration hits. Angelica gushes over how heroic he’s being taking this hit for their school. If played right, this can be his sweet revenge, especially if another violent episode out of Prudence gets her locked up again for good. Suddenly an ass kicking doesn’t seem so bad. He'll be a hero and impress a girl!
Little do they know…
After spending her imprisoned time identifying her rage triggers and subduing her furious anger, Prudence’s probation requires her to fit in and make friends. But with every kid running away in fear, can she withstand Billy’s obnoxious behavior? He’s the only kid in school that's forced to talk to her. No matter what it takes, she’s decided he’s going to be her first friend…or else.
And hits paydirt when she discovers that they both have a humongous thing in common—parental abandonment issues! And for Billy, the unthinkable happens. His Dad unexpectedly died several months ago, rocking his world & spiraling him into angry depression. How can this monstrous girl be the first person in school who understands his pain? Everyone knows that her Mom has been missing for a decade and it's no coincidence that's where Prudence's violent behavior first began. But she has a very strange calming wisdom now. And all of a sudden their dancing gets much, much better!
Sometimes friendship hits you in strangest way.
